happy hippies dreams
community warmth
strange smell
fresh band
mud slides
urgent hysteria
purpose and spirit
hug the enemy
draw change
motivate tomorrow

blow out your candles

On this day
your feeling great
finally
your turning eight!
presents, cake
but you must wait..

a cheerful letter or message
is on its way to you
so don't attack your presents yet
i know thats hard to do
the card was put in with a little shove
if you rip it open gently
you'll unleash the love

on this special day
don't throw out the cards
because words will last forever
as the physical will tare to shards

Anger

Why is He your friend?
You’re not the only one who went through this
We were along side of you;
Younger but, still aware
Still hurt.
He helps you get through the day
In the most miserable way
You let Him tell you what to do
You’re frustrated
So are we
So is everyone
But you obsess.
And you show your obsession with your strong words and stronger fists.
Shaking on the floor in front of the dryer
Why did you leave us there?
In the dark unfinished basement
You leave us
But he hasn’t left you.
You have a new friend
She’s white and you find her fragrance irresistible.
Your never home.
They keep you out late
This unstoppable couple and their beautifully dependent baby.
She brings you to new towns
She makes you money
She takes your money
He gives you a sense of…respect?
You’re insane
So are we
So is everyone
But you obsess.
Red and blue lights follow you
Haunt you when you’re working
You follow god’s 12 steps
And like that she’s gone
But you haven’t let go of Him.

Love is a Bare Branch

In the spring love always looks better then it is
You swing on it higher; higher
you feel alive, dangerous,
and at any moment you will fall off
and love will drop you with a horrible crash to the ground,
sometimes unexpected
always hirting worse that way
In the coldest day of January
when it still hasn't snowed and everything is gray
this is when you see loves true colors
the love that you once let control your fate is nowstaring at you lifeless
leaving you with a feeling of regret
from that one time when you broke your arm
it makes you feel hopeless
that you may never swing again
but you can get a cast
and soon you will heal
and spring will come
and suddenly you are a little less afraid, so you try again
but if your still afraid of getting hurt
this is the wrong branch for you to play on

Where you go

She's there.
She's always there.
Combing her straight brown hair.
Hair that's intent is to be perfect,
and it would be if wasn't so dried out by the straightener she uses every night and maybe mornings.
The reflection of her eye catches mine.
She wonders what i think of her.
I make my way over to the metal stalls
that only stay standing due to the rusty nail the custodian hammered in years previous.
I swing the door shut
and drape my Ecuadorian purse over the slimy hook on the door.
These seconds of my life are never pleasant.
I prepare to grip my thighs
and squat over the dirty
pee stained ceramic bowl.

Letters are so arbitrary. If this is able to represent a lot of people how then can a name represent an individual?
It cannot.
Nor can any words for that matter
everything stands for something else.

some vitamin c in the morning

i stay away from bagels
english muffins dont stick to your thighs or make you fat
the way mothers stick on your back telling you this and that
or ex boyfriends sticking to you like hot glue, never letting go
the girl that hurt you sticks to your heart, you didnt know she could stoop so low

its not the good stick you feel when you hug a tree
and the sap wont come off
until you've washed your hands with olive oil
or your hands drenched in honey
just waiting for the water to boil
its not the sticky feeling you get while dancing
because its cold outside and you are warm
or when a stranger calls you beautiful
recognising your not the norm

bagels stick to your thighs
like the image of your naked body in the mirror
loose and flabby
this reoccuring night terror
akward in all the wrong places
but its ok there is a solution
stop eating bagels
do not fear
eat english muffins for a year
and everything will be just fine
